Participant Handbook

At Simbiose we only offer actions that we believe in and that offer opportunities for non-formal education, a healthy and alternative committed leisure, and that also encourage social cohesion. Therefore, all the participation opportunities that we offer are carefully developed so, while responding to a social and/or environmental needs, the people who participate will experience in a satisfactory way.

To work in the best way possible, our only requirements to the people who decide to participate are the commitment, motivation, enthusiasm and seriousness with these actions of solidarity. We believe these attitudes are essential to guarantee the proper development of the activities, our safety and the safety of all the people involved; and to offer an enriching experience that promotes social change.

REGISTERING TO ANY ACTION

Everyone is welcome to Simbiose, one of our main features is accessibility! You can register for any action through the website, inside our calendar section, or through the mobile APP. You can follow some simple steps to sign up at “Participate!“.

But you will only be registered in the event once you receive the confirmation email. All registrations are individual (except fathers, mothers, or legal guardians who participate with children under the age of 16). This does not mean that you cannot register with friends for an activity, only that each person must sign up individually and never come by surprise, since the actions are designed for a maximum number of people, guaranteeing that everything goes well and safely. The Simbiose reference person will contact you, at the latest, the day before the action, to confirm your participation and to know if you have any questions (how to get to the site, etc.).

If you have to withdraw your participation from any activity days before the day we do it, you must send as soon as possible an email to participacion@asociacionsimbiose.org. Doing so is important, so other people will have the opportunity to participate in your place. If the cancellation is made the same day of the activity, you must inform the reference person as soon as possible and make sure that the person is informed (it is better if you do it by phone).

DURING THE ACTION

Participants must arrive on time and remain all the way through the action. Sometimes, storage and cleaning are also part of the actions, and therefore will be part of the tasks to be performed by everyone.

All Simbiose activities are collective, so, during the activities, the participants will never be alone with the users of the organization, unless the social entity and Simbiose authorize it.

Participants must respect confidentiality; therefore, the signing of a confidentiality agreement may be requested before starting some actions.

At Simbiose we ask the participants to keep in mind the values and principles of the organization, to give their best, and to follow the instructions indicated at the beginning of each action.

No discriminatory comment (homophobic, racist, xenophobic, capacitist, ageist, etc.) will be admitted during the activities, nor will it any violence (physical, verbal, or psychological) or hurtful behavior towards any person involved in the activity. This will entail imminent expulsion.

RIGHT OF ADMISSION AND EXPULSION

Simbiose reserves the right of admission or expulsion in any of the actions carried out in order to safeguard the proper development of the action, the other participants, and the organization with which we collaborate. Failure to comply with our Code of Conduct implies the immediate expulsion of the action and the immediate termination of the Voluntary Commitment. Some reasons that can cause rejection or expel someone from the action are:

  • Continuous delays or early departures without any justified reason.
  • Not to attend informative or training meetings for activities that require it.
  • Repeatedly leaving the activities without prior cancellation or repeatedly make last-minute-canceling without any justification.
  • Breach the confidentiality of the actions, the people who participate in them, people from the associations themselves, and their private documents.
  • Any violent, inappropriate, or contrary behavior to our principles and values.
